We are inspired by the beautiful stained glass windows you often see in old churches. The stained glass has a manipulative effect on reality – as if it puts a filter on everyday life. This special atmosphere fascinated us and lead us to begin our process.

This project is about how to reform the traditional techniques of lead framing glass into a sculptural form. Our contribution has been to reform an old craft and show it in a new and modern context. A new material is represented in a sculptural form that shows how much potential this material has. It is not a piece of art, nor a traditional practical object, but something in between.

This is a way of questioning the norm and search for new possibilities. We wanted to challenge a very static materiale which has until now only has been used in a two dimensional context. With this piece we open up for new a materiale, with inspiration from the past. We see this new materiale as ideas for for small product design, and in a larger scale as facade cladding.
